Dynamic images in Email templates work very different to the traditional way we use images in the email template builder here.
A Dynamic Image, is an image that you will create in a third party software (like niftyimages.com). This image will be a constantly moving image. Unlike a Gif that loops, this image will constantly move towards and end goal, and can even change the image once the goal has been reached.
An example of a dynamic image would be a countdown timer.
It would constantly change and move, it would hit its target, and then the image could change if you programmed it too.
The building of the dynamic image is all done by 3rd party software, it is not done in Lifesycle.
For this example I created a countdown timer in niftyimages.com.
Once you complete a dynamic image, you will be given a line of code.
The only thing you need from that code for it to work in your email template is the URL.
So highlight that section, copy it, and go back to Lifesycle to input it into your email template.
Once you are back in Lifesycle and in your Email template, simply drag the image icon into your template.
Then when you open up the image properties, head straight to dynamic image, and switch it on.
From here, all you need to do is paste in the URL you copied from your Dynamic Image creator earlier.
You will not see any changes in your email template at this stage, but when you send out the email, the dynamic image will be in the place of wherever you dropped your image block in to the email template, the best way to check this is to send a test.
In the test I sent to myself, you can see the countdown is now in the email template.
